Pinar del Río beat Guantánamo over the weekend for the fourth time this season, but lost fourth batter Yosvani Peraza who was injured in a motorcycle accident and may have to sit out for the rest of the season.

The young catcher injured his left hand and leaves a big gap in Pinar’s lineup. Nevertheless, Lorenzo Quintana has done a great job so far filling his absence and has a homerun in two consecutive games.

Also over the weekend, Matanzas beat Ciego de Ávila, and Industriales lost their fourth game in a row, Las Tunas continues to soar while Camaguey’s bad luck continues. Sancti Spíritus chalked up another win and Cienfuegos managed to shake off some of the stress.

On Thursay, the Cuban Basebal League marked its 48th anniversary of its first game on January 14, 1962 between the Azucareros and Orientales.
