Venezuela to Host International Tourism Fair
The event will open September 8 and it will also promote integration-oriented tourism in the context of the ALBA. Over 15 countries will take part of negotiations in a specialized space.

CARACAS.— The international Tourism Fair FitVen 2010 will be an outdoor display of Venezuela´s natural and hospitable beauties, as well as the attractions of other countries with the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our Americas (ALBA).
Argentina will be the special guest to the event.
The announcement was made by Venezuelan Tourism Minister Alejandro Fleming in a news conference. Fleming said that all preparations have been concluded for the fair, which will promote Venezuela as tourist and reference destination not only for its nationals, but also for Latin America and the rest of the world. The event will facilitate alliances and agreements with other nations, said the official.
Along with natural attractions, Venezuela has a hospitable people who welcome all those who visit the country, the minister explained.
Five national pavilions stand first on the exhibit ground, which expands from the monoliths to show participants the country´s landscapes and cultural regions like the plains, the Andes, the central-western part, the coastal and insular areas and the Amazon forests; an enviable geographic diversity to be promoted along with tourist offers from every state and a huge cultural heritage.
Fleming explained that the section finally includes a monument to the Terepacupay, also known as the Angel Springs, presented as country´s image as a tourist destination.
Next on the path is the pavilion of the 1st ALBA Tourism Fair whose exhibit is based on regional integration with multi-destination packages.
Fitven´s International Pavilion will host exhibits by Argentina, Brazil, the Dominican Republic and Syria. Next on the line is the Artisans´ Pavilion with an offer that combines this art with the music and landscapes of Venezuela.
Over 15 countries will participate at negotiation tables, which will have their specialized space, plus 120 tour operators already registered at the event.
The tourism minister said that some 300 business meetings have already been confirmed, as well as 18 specialized media outlets from Cuba, Uruguay, Mexico, Chile, Canada and Spain.
Fleming, who invited all Venezuelans to learn more of the attractions of their country, said that the tourist sector is currently growing—13 percent increase of domestic tourism in the first quarter of the year--, and he described the sector as important and dynamic for the local economy, with a four-percent contribution to the Gross Domestic Product.
