Honduran Resistance Movement Continue Protests

TEGUCIGALPA, September 10.— Students and workers occupied the Honduran Autonomous University (UNAH) as part of a 48 hour strike being held by three trade unions in Honduras beginning Thursday to demand the return of ousted President Manuel Zelaya, reported Prensa Latina.

The strike and occupation is part of measures organized by the National Front against the Coup during 75 days of resistance.

Protests, marches and caravans are taking place across the country to demand a return to democracy and in rejection of the elections called by the usurpers for November 29.

Large demonstration protested against the Liberal Party’s —Zelaya’s party— presidential candidate, Elvin Santos, reported ANSA.

The National Election Committee, allied with the coup, has vowed to respond to the election boycott announced by the National Front, reported the El Heraldo newspaper.

A report released by the International Observatory International Observatory on Human Rights in Honduras states that in the country “there does not exist the minimum conditions” for holding fair and open elections on November 29, since they have been called by “a de facto government.”
