HAVANA, Cuba, June 5 (acn) The 2nd International Che Guevara Conference will take place in Vancouver, Canada, on June 26-28 under the theme 50 Years of Dynamism of the Cuban Revolution.

The First International Che Guevara Conference, organized in June 2008 by the Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba group, was successfully held with speakers from Canada, the United States, England, the Middle East, Cuba and Venezuela and with more than 200 participants.

While the first meeting focused more on Che Guevara as a thinker and fighter, this year conference will focus on the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.

Some of the topics to be discussed during the event include issues concerning revolutionary politics in Cuba; the legacy of Che Guevara and Fidel Castro; the Cuban Revolution and its challenges after the collapse of the Soviet Union; the Cuban Revolution and the US blockade; the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters who remain unjustly imprisoned in the United States; human rights; women liberation and homosexual rights in Cuba; Cuba and democracy; Cuba and the concept of internationalism; and Cuba and Latin America.

Organizers have announced that this year speakers will come from Vancouver, across Canada and internationally - including Cuba. The conference will include documentary film showings, multimedia presentations and slide shows related to the topics.
