Prime Minister of Grenada Meets with Visiting Cuban Delegation

HAVANA, Cuba, June 1 (acn) Cuban Vice President Esteban Lazo Hernandez was received on Sunday by the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dr. Tillman Thomas, to whom he delivered messages and greetings from the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro and from Cuban President Raul Castro.

According to Granma news daily, Lazo also reiterated the willingness of the Cuban people and Government to continue developing bilateral relations and increasing cooperation between both nations.

The Cuban delegation, which is also comprised of Deputy Foreign Minister Alejandro Gonzalez and other officials of the Cuban Government and the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), was welcomed on Saturday at the airport by Peter Davis, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Grenada, who expressed the gratitude of his Government and people for the visit.

Also on Saturday, the Cuban delegation attended a ceremony organized by the Government of Grenada for the renaming of its international airport after former Prime Minister and revolutionary leader Maurice Bishop. Cuban constructors played a decisive role in the construction of the airport, a project begun by Bishop Revolutionary Government.

The ceremony was also attended by the prime ministers of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Goncalves, and Dominica, Roosvelt Skerrit, among other foreign and national guests.

Also present were relatives of Maurice Bishop, with whom the Cuban Vice President met and shared memories and experiences of the close ties between Bishop and Fidel Castro.
