The Jose Marti Art Brigade (BJM) is holding its third national council meeting February 3-4 in Havana. Among the focal points of discussion are the questions, what is the best way to bring art to the school and community, and, how can members become better professionals?
A representative from the national executive, Ariadna Padrón García, told Juventud Rebelde that this year’s council will gather some 60 delegates from around the country.
Debates on Thursday and Friday will focus on artistic creation, continuing teacher education, regulations and the role of the BJM in the countries cultural policy.
During the gathering, Jesús Guanche will host a conference on traditional popular culture, and the La Colmenita childrens theater group will put on a special presentation of Y sin embargo, se mueve.
The meeting of the National Council kicks off celebrations for national Art Instructor day that is held every February 18. The council also salutes the upcoming Ninth Conference of the Communist Youth League of Cuba (UJC).
