Cubans Take Part in Volunteer Activies to Honor Mayday

Young Cubans and workers dedicated their weekend to volunteer activities in celebration of May 1

Cubans celebrated Mayday early across the island with a massive volunteer turnout over the weekend in work and study centers, factories, businesses, hospitals, schools and in the agriculture sector.

What better way to pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution then following Jose Marti’s philosophy that freedom is the air and work is the blood.

Workers and young Cubans spent the weekend doing volunteer work in the spirit of Ernesto Che Guevara who first made the call for volunteers and led by example back in the early days of the Revolution. Che Guevara said, “It is as important to win the battle in the military sector against imperialist aggressions as it is to win the battle in production.”
